The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Dentistry provides a unique balance of clinical excellence, research opportunities and community service as part of one of the leading health science centers in the nation. Since its founding in 1881, the School of Dentistry has evolved from the lone outpost of dental education west of the Mississippi into an international leader in the education of oral health care practitioners and scholars, comprehensive dental care and breakthrough research. The school has a tradition of service, strong clinical programs that prepare dentists for the future and research activities at the vanguard of contemporary science. Beginning the 2023-2024 admissions cycle, the UCSF International Dentist Pathway has only been offering a 3 year track. After evaluating feedback from the campus community, the two year pathway has been phased out. It was decided to extend the program for an additional year to ensure full integration with our DDS curriculum exposing more clinical experience which would result in our graduates being well-prepared for a professional career in the U.S. It also allows our IDP cohort to partake in amazing research opport

TOEFL instructions
- TOEFL scores within two years of opening of application cycle
- Minimum TOEFL scores is 95 or higher on the internet based test (iBT) or a 5 or higher with the new TOEFL score scale. The home based TOEFL exam is accepted. MyBest TOEFL scores are accepted and should be uploaded to the ADEA CAAPID application.
Letters of evaluation
- Please submit three Letters of Recommendation via ADEA CAAPID application only. One is required from a clinician who has supervised your work, another from an academic from your home institution (required within 5 years from graduating; if unable to obtain, you can submit two professional letters of recommendation) and one of your choice. If your recommender is unable to obtain letterhead, we require them to upload the letter directly to ADEA CAAPID, and it must include their electronic signature and all their contact information.
This program does not publish a tuition figure in the CAAPID directory, and we refuse to print a guess next to a number as consequential as this one. Tuition, instrument kits, fees and living costs in San Francisco change every cycle.
