The School of Dentistry’s (UAB SOD) International Dental Program (IDP) provides foreign-educated dental graduates the opportunity to enter a Commission of Dental Accreditation- (CODA-) approved D.M.D. program. Following an intensive, six-month preparatory term, qualified students integrate with undergraduate dental students to complete the final two years of the D.M.D. curriculum.

TOEFL instructions
- Applicants are required to take the TOEFL internet-based test (TOEFL iBT).

Letters of evaluation
- Program requires three Letters of Evaluation from former teachers or mentors who can attest to applicant's character, conduct and professional ability. If possible, one or more of the three letters should be from a dentist practicing in the United States who supervised or worked with the applicant in a clinical or educational setting.
This program does not publish a tuition figure in the CAAPID directory, and we refuse to print a guess next to a number as consequential as this one. Tuition, instrument kits, fees and living costs in Birmingham change every cycle.
