The International Dentist Program (IDP) offers qualified graduates from foreign dental programs the opportunity to earn the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree at Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD). The IDP program requires a daily, full-time, minimum 30-month committment to successfully complete and graduate the program. Qualified applicants accepted into the program will enter the spring semester of the second year of the DDS program. Upon successful completion of the DDS program, graduates may take state or regional clinical board examinations to be eligible for dental licensure and dental practice contingent upon licensure requirements for any state within the U.S. IUSD reviews all CAAPID applicants in a holistic manner considering all the required components listed in the criteria below. After the application is reviewed and all required materials are successfully processed, qualified applicants are invited for a virtual assessment; after which selected qualified candidates may be offered a virtual interview, after all interviews are complete, a select group interviewed applicant will be invited to the bench or hand skills exam. ** IUSD reserves the right to

TOEFL instructions
- All IU-IDP applicants must be proficient in the English language. If your native language is not English, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- We accept only the TOEFL iBT (test center or home edition). You must have taken the test no more than two years prior to the date you submit your application
- Minimum score of 100 is required and must be submitted directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to ADEA CAAPID.
- Note: MyBest Scores, the sum of highest scores, is not accepted.
- We do not grant TOEFL waivers for personal circumstances or for scores lower than the minimum requirement.
Letters of evaluation
- You are required to submit two original letters of evaluation with your application. All letters of evaluation must be submitted directly to ADEA CAAPID.
- One letter must be from a U.S./Canadian
- Dental professional with whom you have worked
- in the past 12 months.
- One letter must be from a U.S./Canadian
- organization for Community service
- performed in the past 12 months. “Community Service” is assistance provided (without pay) through a nonprofit organization that benefits the community.
- Each letter must be on the official letterhead of the organization with which the evaluator is affiliated; Include the evaluator’s mailing address, phone number, email address and signature; and written within 12 months of the application’s submission date. Letters that do not meet these criteria will not be accepted.
This program does not publish a tuition figure in the CAAPID directory, and we refuse to print a guess next to a number as consequential as this one. Tuition, instrument kits, fees and living costs in Indianapolis change every cycle.
