University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine awards the DMD through the traditional four-year predoctoral route: you apply as a college graduate, train inside a CODA-accredited school in San Juan, and graduate eligible for licensure as a general dentist.
Nothing on this page carries over to an Advanced Standing (CAAPID) application. That is a separate admissions system with its own service, exams and deadlines — if you already hold a dental degree earned outside the U.S., start there instead.

- A bachelor's degree is expected at almost every school, even where it is not formally required.

Four-year tuition, instrument kits, fees and living costs in San Juan are published by the school and revised annually — often with a large resident vs non-resident gap at public schools.

- 1Finish the prerequisite science coursework your target schools list (biology, general and organic chemistry, physics, biochemistry — exact credits vary by school).
- 2Sit the DAT. Most applicants test in the spring or early summer of the year they apply.
- 3Open an ADEA AADSAS application when the cycle opens (TMDSAS instead, for Texas public schools).
- 4Send official transcripts for every institution attended, plus letters of evaluation (commonly a pre-health committee letter or two science faculty plus one dentist).
- 5Submit early — most schools review on a rolling basis and interview from autumn onwards.
- 6Complete any school-specific supplemental application and fee once you are invited.
- 7Interview, then respond to offers inside the ADEA traffic-rules deadlines.
- 8After graduating, pass the INBDE and your state or regional clinical licensure exam.
